Core Infrastructure

Demo

Created temp/demo-poems.txt with 5 hope-themed poems in correct format:

  • 80-character line limit enforced
  • Poems separated by 80 dashes

What's Next (Phase 2)

Poem Selection Logic

The export-hope-cards script needs:

  1. Centroid-based selection (preferred):
  • Load centroid embeddings
  • Rank all poems by similarity to "hope" centroid
  • Select top N poems
  1. Anchor-based selection (alternative):
  • Load similarity matrix for anchor poem
  • Take top N similar poems
  • Apply optional keyword filter

Data Requirements

Phase 2 needs:

  • Similarity matrices generated (assets/similarity/*.json)
  • OR centroid embeddings generated (src/centroid-generator.lua)
  • Consolidated poems data (assets/poems.json)

Key Discovery: Centroids

The existing centroid system (assets/centroids.json) provides semantic filtering superior to keyword matching:

  • Define "hope" with evocative phrases
  • Generate embedding from keywords + optional source files
  • Rank all poems by similarity
  • Top N are naturally hopeful!

Blockers for Phase 2

None - infrastructure complete. Just needs:

  1. Poem selection logic implementation
  2. Access to similarity/centroid data

Recommendations

Priority: Medium (not blocking website deployment)

Next steps:

  1. Implement centroid-based selection in export-hope-cards
  2. Test with real poem data once similarity matrices exist
  3. Generate test PDFs and validate poem selection quality
  4. Iterate on centroid keywords if needed

Estimated time for Phase 2: 2-3 days
