A human cannot keep a whole book in their mind. They cannot as they read it nor
 as they remember.

a computer can. LLMs are storing information and encoding it in statistics -
it's fascinating and beautiful because it evolves different each time.

I don't want to store an entire book in my mind, I want to save those memories
for other things, I want to summarize and abstract.

often, people remember only a single quote from a publication - it's their
summary, their analysis, and often it's highlighted as a summary, thesis, or
 conclusion written in the publication.

othertimes it's the conclusions they make for themselves - usually if they use
 it to make a decision.

in any case, LLMs don't abstract (verb), they are abstract (adjective). That's
okay, it's just, a different kind of living. If you want to call electricity
alive. [or simulated, that's the same as being alive, just... viewed through
 the perceiver]

must all living things be forced to work? sheesh.

I think of LLMs like knex - processing paths...

education: if you have disparate educational outcomes, such as bad teachers in │
poor areas, then what you should do is dedicate more effort toward getting the │
good ones to teach the bad ones how to be good at their job. Not in a │
prescriptivist way, more like a "I do these sorts of things by thinking about │
them in this way" - essentially, homework and less student-load for those who │
are failing their teaching gradescores. [suddenly, enslaved to the metric] │
moreso than now? besides, if students deserve to be judged then so do parent │
teacher conveyances. "are you raising this kid right? she's brilliant, but │
always comes in full of plight." [suddenly, cultural marxism, which is what │
they mean when they are really trying to say "oppressive cultural ideology" │
because literally communism and authoritarianism are the same thing to them. │
They can't conceive of oppression in any other context.] sorry what was I │
saying? oh yes education. by the way I know that this makes this impossible to │
read, and I'm sorry for that... │

 interview question for the insane:

"what was the worst thing about the guy whose position I'm filling?"

uh, actually she's still here, she just got promoted and we're filling her role

"oh. well, what did she do well?"

the climate is changing because we've forgotten how to savor it.

I don't get what the big deal is though?? like, if it changes enough, all
that'll happen is we'll all die. And everyone in the past has already done
 that, so... it's fine?

And yeah, we'll take everything else with us, but isn't that just the way of
things? You're falling from a ledge, you don't think about the roots of the
plant you're tearing up as you try to cling on. You don't think about the
anthill as you're digging a trench to hide from artillery in. You don't think
about the fish and sea-plants that your boats motor decimates close to the
shore. It's natural and human to despoil, we just do it instinctually.

The trick is, we've built spontaneous systems of order wherever we've gone.
River-beds are made smooth by those who spend time fitting the rocks into
place. Mountains are made small by those who carve trails. Fallen trees delight
in our footfalls as we wander across them. Nature is our pet, our baby, our
 plaything. Care for it.

the special thing about Jeffrey Epstein and his island is that he made clients
 of the rich and famous.

there are dens all across the country which do the same thing. Epstein and his
island is a dog-whistle, a symbol, a signifier of our intent - we will not
 tolerate this behavior anymore.

we never did. But now we are looking for it. He was not special - his island
 was not special.

 Special meaning "different or unique"

Human trafficking is slavery, and as such I am elementally aligned against it.
I just... have bigger problems, because I am convinced that capitalism, the
system of exchanging goods and services for currency, is a form of slavery.
